5 things teachers love to hear from Melissa Williams
There are so many things we teachers hear that make us jump for joy! From the sound of children gasping at a new wonder they just learned, to the announcement that the last bus is being loaded at the end of the day. Here are just a few things that make most teachers almost weak in the knees with glorified giddiness.
Raise your hand if you like to make your pack lunches before you go to school. If you have your hand up, put it down now! It’s so nice when you don’t have to worry about what you’re going to have for lunch, let alone deciding whether to take peanut butter and jelly or a pack of crackers, because that’s all there is since you desperately need to go to the grocery store.
Walk into the room where the copier is and if nobody is there you secretly bow your head and give thanks with a sigh of relief. It’s as if the sun shines down on you with angels singing in the background. Ahhhh! It’s a heavenly bonus if you walk away from it without it jamming or needing toner. Yessss!
Sweet calendar joy! A three-day weekend feels like a mini vacation and it’s a plus if it fall with a pay day. One extra day in the week where you can sleep in a little and sip your coffee as slowly as you’d like. Though, a teacher is still working, pinning the next fun activity or scanning Amazon for all the things to create the next STEM activity you just bought at TPT.
It’s going to be the best year ever if you know from the beginning you’re going to have all the supplies you need to run a smooth classroom. It’s not a happy moment when you have to ask parents to supply a needed item, like tissues or glue, in January when school supplies and the like are not on sale. So nice to know you’re all set for the whole entire year through.
Public awards and accolades are so very nice, but the most heartwarming utterances we teachers love to hear is that we’ve meant something to our students and parents that year. Not only do we want our students to grow and learn throughout the year, we want them to be happy doing it. We love it when parents notice too. Best warm fuzzies ever!
It was so much fun coming up with what I believe are the 5 things that teachers love to hear. What do you thing teachers most love to hear during the school year? Leave yours below in the comments.
